By John Chambers – Editor of the WOODSTOCK SENTINEL-REVIEW, 2008 For the next 12 days a number of local eateries will be featuring some of the best in home grown Ontario cuisine, and organizers of the first annual Oxfordlicious event hope everyone will come out and enjoy the food and hospitality around Oxford County. And why wouldn't they? Some of the county's best restaurants will be working together to produce some amazing dishes based completely on local Ontario products. What better way to enjoy great food and take in the sights and sounds of Oxford County? Did I mention there are a number of great prizes up for grabs too? From August 6 to 17th, 10 Oxford County restaurants will give residents and visitors alike the opportunity to taste the difference locally grown food can make. Participating restaurants will also be featuring local art and music, with cameo appearances at peak times. Artists will be demonstrating and displaying their work for diners to enjoy. Some of the artists you can expect to see are Cathy Groulx, at the Dairy Capital Cheese Shop and Rhonda Franks, at Quehl’s in Tavistock. Modeled after Toronto's successful Winterliscious event, Six Thirty Nine chef Eric Boyar said the Oxfordlicious promotion is a great way to support local restaurants and to show that really great food doesn't have to come from far away. Passports' for the event are available at each of the participating restaurants or at Tourism Oxford, and each time you visit one of the participating restaurants between today and August 17, you will get your passport stamped - collect five more stamps and you could win one of ten exciting prizes, such as a VIA Rail passes, romantic getaway package for two, “take home a chef’ package, theatre and dinner package, local art, gift baskets, give certificates and more. The participating restaurants include; Six Thirty Nine, Charles Dickens, Ody’s, Walters Dinner Theatre, Dairy Capital Cheese Shoppe, The Elm Hurst Inn, The Clog Steak and Seafood Grille, Niko’s Eatery and Bar, Bronson’s Steak and Pour Bar, and Quehl’s of Tavistock.
